A PASO ROBLES WOMAN'S
Great American Journey
A WALK ACROSS AMERICA
Update October 11, 2003
TOTAL MILEAGE TO DATE IS 1,538
On October 7 the Walkers completed South Dakota and entered Nebraska. After reviewing their planned route and considering the coming of harsh winter weather they changed their route in Nebraska. The change cut off about 90 miles, and will help them catch up by about a week

At an average of 15 to 16 miles per day, 5 days per week, they should finish Nebraska by November 14, or sooner if they exceed their prior averages. Their daily average for the last 7 walking days was 18.7 miles.
Visit the website at www.greatamericanjourney.com You can read Lyn's daily Journals in their entirety. We also have a listing of daily progress and mileage walked each day, and cumulative to date.

The Team moved the "Castle" to Chadron, Nebraska, on Monday, October 6. They also went to Chinese dinner that day to celebrate finishing South Dakota (the next day), and our 37th anniversary of our daughter joining our family from Korea. The oriental dinner on that day has been a family tradition for 37 years.
They are out of the rolling hills now and in the
generally flat plains.
They do have to watch out
for rattlesnakes there too. Joni stepped on a 1½ foot rattler. Fortunately he just hit her shoe. Also fortunately Cassie didn't
see the rattler and decide to try to fight it.

Mail can be sent to Lyn care of General Delivery at Post Offices along the way.
Regular USPS mail is better now than E-Mail. Address the mail to all three
walkers (that way any of them can pick it up at the Post Office), and underline
Lyn's name so they will know who it goes to. So address your mail to: "Lyn
Hanush, Samantha Hanush-Garrett or Joan Balog".
