After breakfast this morning I went out to the garage to start sorting things from Snow White again. Sorting went a lot better today. I think yesterday I was in kind of a stupor and was just shuffling stuff around. But today I actually came up with a plan and had a method to my sorting. I took quite a few things into my room after getting them organized. That way I could just put them away - as much as I can put things away in my guest room. It’s not that the guest room is too small - it’s that my stuff is too big.
I worked until a little before noon when it was time to make phone calls. The phone was in my room, so when I went to get it I discovered I had four messages already. One was from my insurance agent telling me who to call.
I called the claims department of our insurance and answered all the questions. This information went to the claims adjustor, who called a little later to ask a few more questions. Next came a call from an appraiser with more questions. From what I can gather I should have an idea sometime tomorrow of what they are going to do, and what kind of a settlement we’ll get.
Bob ran off some pages from the internet with vans that fit my needs. There are quite a few, and prices are varied, but many reasonable ones. Most have relatively low mileage.
We ate lunch out on their patio and sat and talked some more. What a blessing to be in this amazing place. It is so good to look out and see so much green. Right now I’m sitting in the kitchen working on this journal, and I’m looking out on some beautiful geraniums. Then every so often a hummingbird comes to the feeder, or cardinals and bluebirds show up at the other feeder. Gus, the German Shepherd shows up every so often as well.
I never did get back to sorting this afternoon with all the phone calls, and other stuff. I did get Bob to help me get my last two journal entries onto the website via his computer. I won’t do that a lot, but I really did want to get the entry about the accident up for everyone to see.
Some of you know that I have always wanted a purple car (smile). Looking at the list of vans that Bob printed out for me I noticed one that was purple. Boy did I get excited. Then I noticed it was a 1999 with over 110,000 miles on it. Oh, well. Easy come, easy go. Not to worry, I promise not to choose a car for its color. Actually my requirements are much higher than that.
Becky and Bob will both help me look for the right van. Becky tells me Bob will make sure I get a good one, and she will make sure I get a good price. I am in good hands.
Bob is at a genealogy meeting tonight. He and Dave have so much in common - the genealogy, and the humor, among other things. And Becky and I have really hit it off well, too. I wish all of you could come and visit, and meet them. But I guess if you all came we’d have to set up tents all over the yard, and that would take away from the beauty of this place, so you’ll just have to settle for the descriptions I give you from time to time.
Well, that’s about it for today. I’m hoping to get to bed a little earlier tonight.
