Today I got up leisurely and got ready for the day. Then I did my Bible and Prayer time, and got packed up and ready to go. It was about 11 am when I left and headed for Lucama, NC.
The Atlanta area is a really confusing area for getting on and off of the Interstate system, but thanks to “Lady G” (the GPS) I only missed one turn because I wasn’t far enough to the left. It was pretty easy to correct, so I was soon on my way. Still I had to stay very alert to make sure I didn’t miss my exit from I-285 to I-20. Oh, yes, the speed limit here is posted at 55 mph, but if anyone went that speed I sure didn’t see them. Everyone was going at least 65, and most 70 or more. I kinda stuck with the 65 mph for my own safety - otherwise they were trying to run over me.
Then when I stopped to get lunch and gas later, I got back onto I-20 West rather than East, so had to backtrack a couple of miles to the next exit. Again, I was in the wrong lane for east bound, and by the time I realized it, it was too late. Oh, well.
As I continued east the sky got darker and darker, and soon the heavens opened and huge drops of rain splashed all over the area for quite awhile. Traffic slowed down during this rainy spell, but not a lot. At least the speed limit was now up to 65 mph in some places, and 70 mph in others. Then, of course, there were the construction areas where the speed limits varied from 40 mph to 65 mph. Still most paid little attention to the speed limits.
I called Bob & Becky to give them my estimated time of arrival, and let them know I might also stop at a motel for the night. Finally at Columbia, SC, I did just that. I was getting tired and still had a good four hours to go. I figured I’d better not wait too late with it being Memorial Day Weekend, so I stopped and got a room, then called Bob and Becky to let them know not to expect me tonight.
Once I got checked in and settled, I put on my walking shoes and walked down to Fazoli’s to get some dinner. Then back to my room to do the bookkeeping that I hadn’t done for awhile. I think I’m all caught up now - I hope.
Then I got my stuff organized a bit, and headed for bed.
