Did y’all notice the logo for our walk that Dave put on the website a few nights ago? It’s moved down between some of the journal entries now, but be sure to take a look at it. It was designed by Alex, who set up our website for us. Hopefully you’ll start seeing it on more things as the walk continues.
Sunday we went to First Church of Sweetwater, Tennessee with Alyce-Kay and family. Pastor Hardaway sang a song before his message about the storms of life that we all experience at times. The song talked about being tossed by waves and current, yet having an anchor unmoveable - anchored in the Lord - the Rock! Great song.
Then Pastor Hardaway preached a powerful message from II Corinthians 12: 1- 10. His message was titled, “I’m Growing Muscles.” Some of his thoughts were: “When I am weak, then I am strong. When people talk against me I am building up my muscles. We can actually take pleasure in our reproaches - there will be those who don’t like us.
When the enemy tries to steal, kill, or destroy us we don’t want to help him. We don’t want to take credit for our accomplishments. The credit goes to God. We should be constantly changing and growing in the Lord. Without Christ we are nobody. When things go wrong Christ says, ‘My grace is sufficient for you.’ “
There were a lot of other things he said, and, of course, he gave a lot more detail about the various things he said above. I’m afraid it loses a lot when I just put in small portions of his message. But, trust me, it was powerful, and so right on.
After church we came back to the house and had a delicious ham dinner with all the fixings, and a great afternoon of visiting. Lois had her boyfriend, Isaiah, with her for the day, and Jesse’s friend, Jim, was here as well.
In the evening we all went to the church across the street to watch a children’s musical that Kitty was in. It was called, “Captain Noah and The One & Only Zoo Cruise For Twos.” It was really cute, and all the children did a great job.
Back to the house to have popcorn and desserts, and watch a DVD, then to bed.
Then on Monday, we took care of things here in the morning, then in the afternoon we went to Knoxville where did some shopping. I had a gift card for Barnes and Noble so I got three books by Max Lucado that I had been wanting.
We also went to a big park for awhile to let Owen play. It was a beautiful park, and we had a lot of fun. Dogs were running around, and one came over to help us eat our snacks.
We did a little more shopping, then headed back to Sweetwater. After we got the stuff inside, Alyce-Kay fixed some Jambalaya for our dinner. It was really good.
Then we relaxed in front of the TV for a bit before finishing up some things and heading for bed.
